Artist in pastel, crayon and colour etching and teacher, born in Halifax, Yorkshire. He attended Blackpool School of Art, 1946–50, then Regional College of Art in Manchester, 1950–1. From 1951–3 did National Service, worked with Metal Box Company from 1953–7, then until 1989 was in department of art and design at Stockport College of Technology, latterly senior lecturer in charge of foundation studies. Wilkinson was a member of MAFA, also taking part in group shows at RA, RBA, Middlesbrough Drawing Biennale and Laing Exhibition. Had a series of solo exhibitions in London, Manchester, Preston, Stockport, Derby, Carlisle, Kendal and Blackpool. Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and public galleries in Oldham, Salford, Sheffield and Stockport hold examples.
