Painter and teacher, born in Bexley, Kent. He studied at Bromley College of Art, 1960–2, Ravensbourne College of Art, 1962–4, and Slade School of Fine Art, 1965–7, on a postgraduate fine art course. Ward was treasurer of Young Contemporaries exhibition committee, 1965–7. His teaching experience included Central School of Art and Middlesex Polytechnic. Exhibitions included Young Contemporaries at Tate Gallery and tour, 1967; Greenwich Festival, Artists’ Open Studios Event, from 1977; A Sense of Place, at Greenwich Town Hall, 1980; and a solo show that year at Woodlands Art Gallery, when he exhibited abstract works based on an obsession “with a chance image: Two Squares, tilted, with one side congruent”. Ward lived in Charlton, southeast London, for some time occupying a Space Studio.
