Self-taught sculptor and painter who drew since she was old enough to hold a pencil. She spent much of her life surrounded by horses and rode in competitions. When in 1980 she broke her leg, she began to sculpt. The grace and power of horses made them her first subject, although eventually she included a wide range of animal, fish and bird life. Wallace became a prolific sculptor, one of the leading artists in her field, working widely to commission. Asprey’s commissioned her Herd of Arab Horses; The Forge Shopping Centre, Glasgow, a life-size Farrier; Arlington Business Park, Birmingham, a Flight of Ducks; and the same client, Theale, Spiral of Seagulls. Among eventing, showjumping and racing trophies were the Martin Whiteley Memorial; Olympic Starspotters Trophy; Foxhunter Horse of the Year; Police Horse of the Year; Ascot, Comet Chase; Newmarket, Middle Park Stakes; and Nottingham, Michael Seely Chase.
