Figurative sculptor who studied fine art, sculpture, at Central St Martins School of Art, gaining his master’s at Royal College of Art. Awards and commissions included Darwin Scholarship to the Royal College, 1990; Henry Moore Award, 1991–2; Lord and Lady Carrington garden commission, 1991 and 1996; Royal Academy of Art Travel Scholarship, 1992; and Scadum Solicitors commission, 1997. From 1998–00 Vanstone assisted the sculptor Anish Kapoor. His work was featured at the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden at Ockley. Group shows included steel heads, Victoria & Albert Museum, 1994; Francis Kyle Gallery and Walton Contemporary Art, both from 1995; and Cadogan Contemporary, from 1997. He shared an exhibition there in 2001 with a series of marble heads.
