Painter in oil and teacher, born in London. He studied at Slade School of Fine Art, 1953–7, then became head of painting at Hertfordshire College of Art & Design, 1970–5, and visiting tutor in painting at Camberwell School of Art & Design, 1975–91. Group shows included Whitechapel Art Gallery, 1967; Art Spectrum, Arts Council tour, 1971; 40 Pictures from the Roland Collection, Birmingham City Art Gallery, 1974; The Subjective Eye, Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol, and tour, 1980; and Summer Exhibition, Redfern Gallery, from 1992. Had a solo show at ICA, 1963; a series at Roland, Browse & Delbanco, from 1965; later ones including Cadogan Gallery, 1991, and Art Space Gallery from 1994. Peter Stuyvesant and Arthur Andersen Collections, Arts Council, Courtauld Institute and University of Keele hold examples.
