Figurative artist and teacher, born in London, who studied at East Ham College of Technology; Loughborough College of Art and Design, 1983–6; Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, America, 1985; and Brighton Polytechnic, 1988–90. Between 1986–8 Tyler was slide librarian at Loughborough College, also lecturing at John Storer House Community Centre, Loughborough; he lectured at Loughborough during 1988 and was a part-time lecturer at Richmond-upon-Thames College, 1988–9; becoming head of printmaking, course co-ordinator and lecturer in advanced art and design there, 1990. His awards included first prize in Young Contemporaries in Paint and Print at Horsham Arts Centre, 1992. Other group exhibitions included University of Creative Arts, Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, 1985; Deepdale Exhibitions, Burnham, from 1989; Grafiki, Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Poland, 1990; Pacesetters 12, Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery and tour, 1992; and Royal Over-Seas League Open, 1994.
