Miniaturist and watercolourist, born in India, but during violence caused by partition he and his family fled to Pakistan. Moved to England in early 1960s and attended St Martin’s School of Art as an evening student for eight years. Sohail’s pictures were full of brightly coloured imaginary creatures in idyllic settings and radiated hope and harmony. Solo exhibitions included Indus Gallery, Karachi, from 1977; October Gallery, 1979; South Bank Centre, 1991; Gallery 2000, Sweden, 1992; and Boundary Gallery, 1993.
