Artist producing painted wall reliefs, brightly decorated with bands of colour, and installations, who gained a degree in furniture (wood, metal, plastics and ceramics) at University of Brighton, 1991–4. Mixed shows included National Theatre, part of Ron King’s Circle Press retrospective, 1996–7; Installation for Comme des Garçons, Aoyama Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan, 1998–9; and Painting Zero Degree, curated by Independent Curators International, New York, for tour of major American venues, 2000–1. Smallhorn’s installation at Concept House, Pierre d’Avoine Architects, was a competition winner, 1999. Later solo exhibitions included Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery at Hiscox Art Café, 1999, and Pentagram, 2000. Smallhorn carried out commissions in Europe and America, public ones including Arts for Health Projects, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, 1994–5 and 1998, and Sculpture at Goodwood, Goodwood, 1999.
