
Painter and draughtsman, born in Hook, Hampshire. She studied at Queen’s College, London, 1925–30. During the late 1930s she studied periodically in Paris with Amédée Ozenfant before he left for New York. She designed textiles to pay for these studies. From 1941–55 worked in Egypt with her husband Hamed Saïd, creating a student group which showed in Cairo. In England from late 1950s showed New Art Centre and elsewhere and had first solo show at Beaux Arts Gallery in 1957. In 1961 settled in Wiltshire. The Flight, about 12 feet by five feet square, was among Saïd’s most important works, one of many large drawings. Her work was included in the limited-edition English/Egyptian publication The Word & The Image. Early works were signed Anne Cobham.
