Painter and teacher, born in Johnstone, Renfrewshire. He studied at Glasgow School of Art and in Italy, which remained an inspiration to his work, and went on to teach for some years. Rossi appeared in many mixed shows: at Compass Gallery, Glasgow; Glasgow Group; Fine Art Society in Glasgow; and RSW and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, of both of which he was a member. He had many one-man shows, including Compass Gallery, Strathclyde University and more recently at Open Eye Gallery, in Edinburgh. Rossi was a painter, often in mixed media, whose works – especially the still lifes – were coolly ordered and elegant.
