Painter, notably of female figures in interiors or in a landscape, and teacher, born in Budapest, Hungary. He grew up in Malta, moving to England in 1949. After National Service in the Army Röder in 1954 trained as a map draughtsman with Ordnance Survey, then studied architecture and finally art, qualifying in 1960. After five years’ teaching he was appointed education officer with Sheffield City Art Galleries, leaving this post in 1975 to teach art history to postgraduate level. From 1988 worked as a full-time painter, showing widely, including a shared exhibition at Bourne Gallery, Reigate, in 1993.
