Painter, graphic artist and teacher, born in Tredegar, Monmouth. He studied at Cardiff School of Art, 1939–42, served with the South Wales Borderers and Indian Signal Corps, 1942–7, then attended Royal College of Art, 1947–51, under Robert Austin. Several teaching appointments concluded with his being head of faculty of art and design at Liverpool Polytechnic. Roberts was a member of RWS, RE and RCamA. He illustrated for publishers and did advertising work. Also showed at SWG, Liverpool Academy of Arts of which for a time he was treasurer, and elsewhere and had a series of solo shows. WAC and National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, hold examples. Lived in St Davids, Dyfed.
