Painter, born in London, who attended Camberwell, then Goldsmiths’ College Schools of Art. She moved to Norfolk in 1973, then began painting seriously, her first pictures – small, detailed oils of exotic animals on Oriental carpets – being slightly surreal. Later she turned to bigger paintings of exotic gardens and still lifes. Her influences were diverse: Rothko, David, Tiepolo, Matisse, Bogdani, Audubon and eighteenth-century Dutch flower paintings. Riches showed myriad works in mixed shows from 1976 with Portal Gallery, which first exhibited her solo in 1980, also abroad. Commissions included London Transport and P&O Line; Wild Apple Graphics, of Woodstock, Vermont, in America, created prints and posters of her work.
