Painter, decorative designer, architect and administrator. Born in Dundee, he attended the Royal College of Art, 1906–12, under Gerald Moira. Was married to the artist Lucy Revel. He became the head of Chelsea School of Art, 1913–25, and of Glasgow School of Art, 1925–32. Exhibited RA, ROI, RSA, Chenil Galleries, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and in the provinces. Manchester City Art Gallery and Paisley Museum and Art Gallery hold his work. Was a member of Chelsea Arts Club. Lived at Blewbury, Berkshire.
