Painter in oil and watercolour. Born in Oxford the son of Sir J D Rees, MP, Sir Richard Rees studied watercolour technique with Fred Lawson in 1936, a year later moving to the St John’s Wood Art School. In 1945–6 he studied at Camberwell under William Coldstream, Victor Pasmore and Claude Rogers. Lived in London.
