Artist notable as a printmaker, born and lived in London, who graduated in fine art from Goldsmiths’ College, 1976–80, teachers including Michael Craig-Martin and John Bellany; then did postgraduate diploma in art therapy at Hertfordshire College of Art, 1984–5. Also studied advanced printmaking at Central St Martins where the work of Ken Campbell and other makers of books were influences. Redington came from a theatrical background and produced a series of thespian portraits. These included Sir John Gielgud, Theatre Museum, 1988; and Peter O’Toole, Shaftesbury Theatre, 1991. In 1993 Redington founded the Kamikaze Press, the year before he won a scholarship from The Charitable Trust of the Stationers’ and Newspaper-Makers’ Company, The Francis Mathews Award, a travel award to study book arts in America.
