Frank Ransom was born in Pimico, London, England on 8 October 1874 and studied at Lambeth School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he was awarded a silver medal in 1901. He subsequently worked as a sculptor and medallist. He was also an Instructor at Clerkenwell School of Art and Hammersmith School of Art. Ransom was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy in London and also exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Sculptures exhibited by Ransom at the Royal Academy in 1906, 1908 and 1910 are illustrated in Academy Architecture vol.30, 1906 (p.119), vol.33, 1908 (p.100), and vol.37, 1910 (p.65). Notable among his commissions as a medallist was the King's Medal in 1911.
For most of his career he lived in London. His address was given as 67B Gloucester Road, Twickenham Middlesex [now London] in the 1939 National Register. He is thought to have died in Devon in 1952.
