Painter and lecturer, born in Holyhead, Anglesey, where he settled at Roscefnwhir, Pentraeth. He studied art and design at Gwynedd Technical College, 1987–9; then graduated with first-class honours, Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, 1989–92; gaining his master’s in painting, Chelsea School of Art, 1992–3. From 1994 he lectured at Coleg Menai, Bangor. In 1999, Parry won 2nd Prize, Gold Medal – Fine Art, at the Llanbedrgoch, Anglesey, Eisteddfod. Exhibitions included the touring Wales Drawing Biennale, 1998, an image by Parry forming the poster; and Oil and Water, Centre for Visual Arts, Cardiff, 2000. Parry was artist-in-residence at Wrexham Arts Centre, 2000, with a solo show there, 2000–1. The pictures, based on the landscape and seascape of Anglesey, were “about trying to find a visual equivalent for my sensations and inspirations”.
