Painter, printmaker and businessman, born in St Helens, Lancashire, who showed his first watercolour at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, in 1923. He later exhibited at LG, RA and had a first solo exhibition at Upper Grosvenor Gallery in 1971. Other solo shows, mainly watercolours, were at Spink & Sons in 1980–3, and at New Grafton Gallery from 1985. As well as working in oil and watercolour, he also showed screen prints. After education at Repton, Oppenheim followed his father into the legal profession, doing his legal training in the family firm. After qualifying as a solicitor in 1929, he moved to a premier legal practice in London, in 1934 joining British American Tobacco. He stood down as its chairman in 1966, served as its president for six years, then as an adviser for two more.
