Draughtsman and painter whose work tended towards abstraction, born in Manchester. He gained his master’s degree at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1980–2. Among his awards were the Artist’s Award, Lincolnshire and Humberside Arts Association, 1977–8–9; Artist in Industry Fellowship, Yorkshire Arts Association, 1983; and he was artist-in-residence at National Gallery, 1984. Among his group shows were Surfaces, at Posterngate, Hull, 1979; Galleria Carini, Florence, 1986; and John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, 1995–6. Had a solo show at Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, 1979, later shows including Galleria Carini and Woodlands Art Gallery, both 1987, Rubicon Gallery, Dublin, Ireland, 2001; Painting Caserta Red, Imperial War Museum, 2003; and The Drunkenness of Noah and other prints at Northumbria University Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, 2005–6.
