
David Norris (b.1940)
Sculptor in bronze, born in São Paulo, Brazil, son of Sir Alfred Norris. He studied at Guildford School of Art and Royal Academy Schools, 1961–4. Elected a fellow of RBS and became its vice-president for a time. Showed at RA, Mall Galleries and elsewhere. Among his commissions was Sir Barnes Wallis, inventor, for the Royal Air Force Museum in Hendon. His Women and Doves was awarded the Sir Otto Beit Medal for the best sculpture of 1981. Norris’ Mother and Child, bronze, 1983, is sited at the Great Portland Street Hospital for Women and Children. Lived in Cranleigh, Surrey.
