Artist and teacher, born in Toronto, Canada, who studied at Ontario College of Art, at L’Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris under Antoine Bourdelle and then privately with Frank Dobson. She exhibited in London at Cooling Galleries, LG and elsewhere, widely on the continent and North America. Was an exhibiting member of the 7 & 5 Society, being included in the commemorative touring show arranged by Michael Parkin Fine Art in 1979–80. Betty Muntz was given a big retrospective of sculpture and drawings in 1971 at Dorset County Museum in Dorchester and a smaller show of paintings, many Canadian landscapes, in 1973. She bought a cottage at Chaldon Herring, Dorset, in 1929 and settled there permanently in 1932. Muntz taught at Bryanston School, her pupils including the painter Patrick Symons.
