Painter and draughtsman who created pictures full of bold figures in intensive colours in the Glasgow tradition. Born in Scotland, he studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1974–8. In 1986 he won a travel bursary to Madrid, Old Master pictures seen there influencing his work. He was a prizewinner in the Leigh Gallery competition. Morris’ mixed show appearances included Moose Gallery, Miami, 1987; Compass Gallery, 1988; Barbizon Gallery in Glasgow and Fine Art Society, Edinburgh, 1989; Olympia International Art Fair, 1990; and New York Print Fair, 1991. His solo exhibitions included Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery and Odette Gilbert Gallery, 1988; Agnew, 1990–1; and Beaux Arts, Bath, 1992. Agnew, BBC in Scotland and University of Tennessee hold his work, which used what was claimed to be a unique form of drawing: hand-made senelier pastel and Lascaux fixative liquid was put on a gesso ground, which in turn was on Fabriano paper from Italy.
