Artist, born in Edinburgh, who painted on plastic strips, later using calico and acrylic to create pictures which had characteristics of monoprints and collage. Braque and Cubism were key inspirations. Moon studied at Chelsea School of Art, 1958–62, then at Royal College of Art, 1962–3. For a decade he then taught at Chelsea, from 1973 at Slade School of Fine Art. He had a series of one-man shows at Waddington Galleries from 1969. Appeared in British Painting ’74 at Hayward Gallery in that year and in British Painting 1952–1977 at RA in the latter year. Had a one-man at Tate Gallery in 1976, later ones including Alan Cristea Gallery, 1996. Elected RA, 1994. Arts Council holds his work.
