Sculptor, ceramist and teacher, brought up in Royston, Yorkshire, who gained her diploma from Borough Polytechnic, sculpture and modelling, with honours, then studied for a diploma, specialising in ceramics and embroidered design, at Goldsmiths’ College. She taught in state and private secondary schools; lectured in ceramics at Hastings College of Further Education; and was artist-in-residence, Perth College of Art and Clairmont College of Art, both in Perth, Western Australia. Miller said that “my theme is the human condition,” and within that brief her work was diverse, being mainly in clay for casting or firing. A major project was My Village, a narrative in bronze of images from her childhood in a coalmining area where her father was a photographer.
