Painter, draughtsman and teacher. He was born in Warrington, Lancashire. Miller studied at Bath Academy of Art, 1959–63, and Slade School of Fine Art, 1963–5. Showed with LG, Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, in Sweden and Germany, in Arts Council’s British Painting ’74 and in John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool, where he was a prizewinner in 1974 and 1976. He had his first solo show at Serpentine Gallery in 1971. The year following he joined staff of Royal College of Art, becoming a fellow in 1982 and senior tutor in painting from 1989. Millar had a retrospective at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham in 1984. Other shows included Lanchester Gallery, Coventry Polytechnic, 1990. Miller was a Greater London Arts Association Award winner in 1985.
