Painter of abstracts, collagist, draughtsman and teacher, born in Liverpool. After Army service in World War II he attended Liverpool College of Art, 1946–50, then moved to Newlyn, Cornwall. He taught in Penzance, 1951–64, then for 20 years was head of the department of fine art at Plymouth College of Art and Design. Became a member of Penwith Society in 1952, Newlyn Society, 1956, exhibiting there, and in group shows at Whitechapel and Bradford Art Galleries, New Art Centre, in the provinces and abroad. Had a series of one-man shows at Waddington Galleries, the City Art Gallery in Plymouth, Durlacher Gallery in New York, and Austin/Desmond, 1999. Arts Council, Gulbenkian Foundation and provincial galleries hold his work. Lived in Penzance, Cornwall.
