Artist, photographer and teacher, born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. He studied graphic design and printmaking at Teesside College of Art, 1968–71, painting and photography at Sheffield School of Art, 1971–4, and photography and graphic design at Birmingham Polytechnic, 1974–5. Did a variety of jobs, including labouring in industry and photographic technician, took a graduate certificate in education at Lancaster University, 1976–7, and taught in a comprehensive school, for a time living at Grosmont, North Yorkshire. Mixed shows included Stowells Trophy at Mall Galleries, 1975; Northern Art Exhibition at Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead, 1978; and Summer Show 3 at Serpentine Gallery, 1981. Solo exhibitions included Quoits at Side Gallery in Newcastle, 1980.
