Artist in oil on board, charcoal, drypoint etching and ceramic, born in Sydney, Australia. Powerful groups of colourful, stylised figures were a key feature of her output. She studied at Chelsea School of Art, 1978–9; gained an honours degree in fine art from Slade School, 1979–83; then did a postgraduate diploma in printmaking at the Slade, 1983–5. Her teachers included Paula Rego, Mick Moon and John Hoyland. Klein was a member of RE, Greenwich Printmakers and the Printmakers’ Council. Group exhibitions included New Contemporaries, at ICA; British Drawing, at Hayward Gallery; Blond Fine Art; RWA; ROI; and Bradford Print Biennale. Solo shows included Creaser Gallery, 1986; Victorian Artists’ Society, Melbourne, 1992; Woodlands Art Gallery, 1993; and Boundary Gallery and Advanced Graphics London, both 2002.
