Patrick Arthur Jobson [also known as Patrick Jobson] was born in Ilford Essex, England on 5 September 1919 and was the son of the painter Frank Mears Jobson (1893-1976) with whom he studied art. He also attended North Tottenham Polytechnic School from 1931 and 1937 and received occasional lessons in painting with Frank Brangwyn. He worked as a painter, primarily of marine subjects. He was also an illustrator and painted several signs for public houses. He exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Society of British Artists, the Pastel Society, and Royal Society of Marine Artists in London. He was a founder member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1939. He was also elected a member of the Society of Graphic Art (SGA) in 1949, a founder member and President of Wapping Group of Artists and a member and President of Langham Sketch Club.
