Artist in a variety of media and teacher, born in London. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art, 1934–7, then Royal College of Art, 1937–9 and 1946–7 with a break for war service. Notable teachers included Gilbert Spencer, Paul Nash, Patrick Heron and Harry Thubron. Jefferson gained a Royal Exhibition Scholarship in painting, 1947. He joined Portsmouth College of Art in that year and taught painting and printed textiles, eventually retiring from department of fine art at Portsmouth Polytechnic as senior lecturer in painting in 1983. Group shows included RA, Redfern and Leicester Galleries, Southampton City Art Gallery and elsewhere. Had solo shows at Bear Lane Gallery, Oxford, 1965; Portsmouth College of Art, 1968; Hiscock Gallery, 1971; and Portsmouth City Art Gallery, 1974.
