Artist in oil, watercolour and pastel, born in Matlock, Derbyshire. He studied at Leicester College of Art and Northampton School of Art. Hales’ favourite subjects were “ships and the sea, the Thames, men at work, the streets of London, the half light”. He was a member of RSMA, an associate of RBA, a member of the Langham Sketch Club, Wapping Group of Artists and the Artists’ Society and a founder-member of the London Muster of Artists. Also showed at PS and elsewhere. Lived in Watford, Hertfordshire.
