Painter and teacher, born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, who attended Birkenhead School, Liverpool College of Art, 1926–9, then the Royal College of Art, 1930–3. He did part-time teaching at Laird School of Art and St Anselm’s Secondary School, Birkenhead, 1934–9; Alsop Grammar School, Liverpool, 1940–1; was in the Army as a gunner-signaller, 1941–7; then taught at Liverpool College of Art from 1947 for over 20 years. In the late 1970s, after retirement, he returned to the College to paint in the life room. Griffith was a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts. He also exhibited in Watercolours, Gouaches and Drawings by Liverpool Artists, at Bluecoat Chambers, 1950. Finally moved with his daughter to live in the Sudbury area of Suffolk.
