Sculptor, stonemason and teacher, born in South Africa. He gained an honours degree in fine art at St Martin’s College of Art and held a City and Guilds craft and advanced craft qualification in stonemasonry. Gregory was an indentured apprentice for five years at Westminster Abbey and Hampton Court and did three years as foreman mason on Richmond Terrace restoration, Whitehall. He periodically worked in the construction industry as a project and construction manager; lectured at art colleges and polytechnics on titanium and metal processes, also teaching sculpture to adults and art classes for children; spent three years on the design and mass production of titanium jewellery; and was invited to collaborate with the ion implantation group at the Department of Nuclear Physics, Harwell, on a since-patented product.
