Artist and teacher, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, where he studied at the College of Art, 1952–6, obtaining his National Diploma in Design (Fine Art). He attended the Royal College of Art, 1958–61, with a French government grant in the latter year. From 1966–9 Grayson worked with the group One Four; Alecto International published his Flikker Book in 1972; and Jam Press was founded in 1973. Grayson was professor at the University of Brighton, 1985–7; with studies at St Martin’s and Chelsea Schools of Art and Universities of Sheffield and Nottingham; also being a professor at the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths’ College. He took part in many group exhibitions and had numerous solo shows. Grayson was represented by Galerie Fortlaan 17, in Ghent, Belgium, and lived in Beckenham, Kent.
