Born in Burslem, Staffordshire, Gallimore trained as a ‘Potter’s Modeller’ and was probably working at the WH Goss porcelain factory in Stoke-upon-Trent by 1861. In 1863 Gallimore, and several other Goss workmen moved to Bellek, Co. Fermanagh, to join McBirney and Armstrong’s pottery factory which was adding porcelain to its output. He remained in Ireland until 1866, returning to Stoke-on-Trent to set up as an independent modeller. When this business failed three years later, he rejoined Belleek before returning once again to work for Goss in 1876. In 1886 Gallimore and his family emigrated to Trenton, New Jersey, where the pottery industry was rapidly expanding, and he remained there for the rest of his life.
