Sculptor in a variety of materials and painter, wife of a furniture manufacturer, Joseph Freedman. She studied at Sir John Cass School of Art, 1963–8. In 1979 she was awarded a Church Fellowship for environmental and functional sculpture. For most of her life Freedman lived in Hackney, east London. The Chalmers Art Gallery there holds her portrait bust of Big Dave, a market character, and in 1980 Prince Philip unveiled her powerful Javelin Thrower, in welded copper, which stands outside the Britannia Leisure Centre, Shoreditch. Generals Eisenhower and Montgomery were portrayed by her and her head of the ballet dancer Anton Dolin is on permanent view at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Showed at RA, Whitechapel and Ben Uri Galleries, Paris Salon and elsewhere abroad and had a series of solo exhibitions, including Chalmers, 1969–72, and Brunswick Gallery, 1977.
