Artist who used “a variety of techniques … My work is mainly concerned with group and individual behaviour in the environment. I focus on the conflict between the individual and the crowd.” Born in Jerusalem, Druks from 1966–7 studied at the Bat-Yam Institute of Art and the Art High School in Tel-Aviv. He began showing in the early 1960s, participating in the 10+ group. Having in 1970 gained the Working Award for the Creative Artist from the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation, he spent three months in America. In 1971 he taught at Jerusalem’s Bezalel Academy of Art, also organising his first street event, the peeling of a public notice-board, aided by the Tel-Aviv city authorities and the Israeli Broadcasting Association. After visiting Amsterdam in 1972 Druks moved to London, where he settled, helping to found the Art Meeting Place in Covent Garden in 1974.
