Sculptor, draughtsman, painter and teacher, born in Wigan, Lancashire, attending its School of Art, 1949–52. Then studied at Slade School of Fine Art, under William Coldstream, 1952–6, winning the Tonks Prize, and the Sunday Times Drawing Prize, 1956. Gained a French Government Scholarship to study in Paris, 1956–7. Dilworth participated in many group shows from Young Contemporaries in 1953, John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, 1959, LG for some years, and progressively abroad. After a solo show at Redmark Gallery, 1968, in 1970 he began to exhibit on the continent, especially in the Netherlands. Later shows included Galerie Elke Dröscher, Hamburg, and Art Affairs, Amsterdam, both 1993, with a residency exhibition at The Gallery, St Peter Port, Guernsey, 1999.
