Painter, sculptor in wax and teacher, born in Bangor, County Down. Studied at Liverpool College of Art, 1979–83, graduating with grade 1 honours. From 1983–4 lived in Amsterdam with his partner the designer Judith Hone, then returned to live in Devon for five years, followed by Liverpool. Dickson went to New York in 1992 under an Ireland/America Arts Exchange. Among his other awards were a David Murray Travelling Scholarship, 1983. He was a John Moores Liverpool Exhibition prizewinner, 1987, and won several South West Arts and Northern Ireland Arts Council Awards. Dickson taught part-time at Southport and Liverpool Art Colleges, and was artist-in-residence at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 1990. Had a solo show there, 1990, others including Cartwright Hall, Bradford, 1992–3.
