Painter and teacher, born in Civitella, Italy. He was educated in England and studied art at High Wycombe School of Art, 1954–9, on a county scholarship. He won the Granada Theatres National Painting Prize in 1957, the RA’s David Murray Travelling Scholarship in 1959. Eventually became head of painting at Amersham College of Further Education. Was president of RBA and Hon. RBSA; shared a show with his wife at Thomas Plunkett Fine Art, St Albans, 2001; also exhibiting at RA and elsewhere in mixed shows as well as solo shows. Lived in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, married to the ceramist Megan Ann di Girolamo.
