Painter in oil and acrylic, draughtsman and teacher, born in Weymouth, Dorset. Her earliest training was with the Vorticist artist Claude Flight in France and Dorset. Then studied with Mark Gertler and Bernard Meninsky at Westminster School of Art, 1936–9; at St Martin’s and Central Schools, 1939–45; at Medway School of Art, Rochester, 1945–8; then obtained an honours degree in fine art from Norwich School of Art, 1984–7. Her early work was landscape, followed by a series of imaginative allegorical pictures, a period of Abstract Expressionism, hard-edge geometric acrylic pictures, then a return to landscape from 1983. De Meric was a fellow of Free Painters and Sculptors. She showed at Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield public galleries, Grabowski and Drian Galleries as well as abroad.
