Painter, born and lived in Wicken, Cambridgeshire, who “concentrated solely on the towns and landscapes of the fen country, poetic in spirit, updating the English watercolour tradition.” Day studied under John Hookham at Cambridge School of Art and with J Anthony Betts at Reading University. Group shows included RA Summer Exhibition, RBA, NEAC and Laing Art Competitions. By 2000 Day had had more than 80 solo exhibitions, among them five in London, mainly in East Anglia, including Castle Museum, Norwich, and Old Fire Engine House Ely, 2000. Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry; Nuffield Foundation; Oxford and Cambridge colleges; and several education committees held Day’s work.
