Sculptor and teacher, born in Canada, whose childhood was spent abroad. She gained an honours degree at Bath Academy of Art, 1974–7. Taught at Downe House School, Hermitage, Berkshire, 1991–2. Coppinger worked extensively in the field of public sculpture. In 1982 won competition and was commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council to create sculpture for Rufford Country Park; in 1991 completed work for Donnington Valley Hotel; in 1992 Elephant Waterworks for Basingstoke District Hospital. She was made an associate of RBS in 1991, later being elected to council. In 1993 was included in 1st RWA Open Sculpture Exhibition and showed at Chelsea Harbour Yacht Club Gallery. A sense of fun was a strong feature of Coppinger’s work. Lived in Newbury, Berkshire.
