Portrait painter, born in Ryde, Isle of Wight, married to the artist Teresa Copnall. He studied at Finsbury College and began a business career in Liverpool, painting in his spare time, then a commission enabled him to become a professional portrait painter from 1897. He was a member of NPS, Liverpool Academy and Liver Sketching Club, also showing at Liverpool Autumn Exhibition, RA, RP, RSA and abroad. Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, Birkenhead, has several portraits of local dignitaries by Copnall.
