Painter and illustrator, especially of townscapes, and teacher, born in Ipswich, Suffolk. Studied at the School of Art there, 1926–9, under Leonard Squirrell, then at Royal College of Art, 1929–32. Showed RA and extensively in the provinces, Ipswich Art Gallery holding his work. Lived in Leicester, where he taught for a time at the College of Art.
