Evelyn Alice Clutton-Brock was born Evelyn Alice Vernon-Harcourt in Limpsfield, Surrey, England, on 30 December 1876 and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London; and at Chelsea Polytechnic in London. She worked primarily as a portrait and landscape painter. She was also a muralist. She exhibited at the Royal Academy in London from 1935 to 1958; the New English Art Club in London from 1929 to 1936; and the Society of Women Artists in London in 1932 and 1933. Her work was also shown at the Alpine Art Club, Goupil Gallery, and Redfern Gallery in London, and with the London Group and the Women’s International Art Club. participated in the 13th exhibition of the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society at the Royal Academy in London in 1926.
Her address was given as 28 Oakley Street, Chelsea, London in 1935; Lock Cottage, Nayland, Colchester, Essex in 1950; and 37 Overstrand Mansions, Prince of Wales Drive, London in 1953 and 1958. She died in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire on 28 July 1964. At the time of her death her address was given as Chastleton House, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire.
