Representational artist, born in Manchester, who said that he “endeavoured to make simple pictures with uncomplicated intentions”. He gained his bachelor’s degree in fine art at Lanchester Polytechnic’s department of art and design, 1972–5; in 1975 won a David Murray Landscape Scholarship; in 1976–9 attending Royal College of Art, while there editing and producing the College magazine 1132. Took part in Stowells Trophy, 1973; showed drawings at 5 Dryden Street, 1978; and had a series of solo exhibitions at Edward Totah Gallery.
