Painter and teacher, born in Lancaster, who studied painting at St Martin’s School of Art, 1966–71. He then settled in London, teaching English part-time to foreign students. His group exhibitions included Young Contemporaries, Burlington House, 1970; Martello Street, 1973; and House at Home: A Birthday Celebration, House, 1979. In that year he shared a show at House, 62 Regent’s Park Road, with Caroline Putt and George Melly bought his 1976–8 oil on canvas View from a Roof, Rostrevor Road, Fulham, for the Arts Council. He called it “a remarkable accomplishment for so young a man”.
