Painter and teacher, born in Treherbert, Mid Glamorgan, Wales. He studied at Cardiff College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Went on to hold a number of teaching posts, including head of the department of art at Liverpool College of Art and head of the department of art and design at Glamorgan College of Education, in Barry. Had one-man shows there and at the Prospect Gallery, in London, group shows including SEA, SWG and WAC. He gained a gold medal at the 1954 Royal National Eisteddfod. Work is held by Cambridge University, WAC and Department of the Environment. Lived for a time at Southport, Lancashire, then retired to Penarth, South Glamorgan. There was a fifty-year retrospective at Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery, Brecon, 2000–1, and Martin Tinney Gallery, Cardiff, showed his paintings in 2005.
